Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

ClassLab is a study platform, not a data business. This policy explains — in plain language — what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.

1. What we collect

Account details you give us: email address, display name and your preparation profile (exam, target year, subjects, daily study hours).

Activity you create on the platform: focus/AUX sessions, tasks, posts, comments, chat messages, mind maps, playlists and watch-party activity.

Usage analytics: page views, clicks and feature interactions, so we can see what's working and fix what isn't.

Technical data: browser type, device class and approximate region, used for security and performance.

2. How we use it

To run the product: show your timeline, streaks, leaderboard rank, countdowns and AI-personalised study plans.

To power community features: your posts, messages and profile are visible to other members as the feature implies.

To send essential email: sign-in links, password resets and notifications you've opted into.

To improve ClassLab: aggregate, de-identified usage patterns guide what we build next.

3. What we never do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show your email address to other members. We do not read private messages except where required for moderation of reported content or by law.

4. AI features

When you use the AI assistant or mention @classlab in a chat, recent context (for chats, up to the last 10 messages in that room) plus your preparation profile is sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. Do not share passwords, payment details or sensitive personal documents in chats.

5. Data retention

Activity and focus analytics roll up automatically — raw activity events and session history are pruned on a rolling window (between 7 and 24 days depending on the feature), while your long-term stats and trophies are kept as aggregates.

Posts, comments and blog articles stay until you delete them or ask us to. Account deletion removes your profile and personal data; public posts may remain anonymised.

6. Cookies & storage

We use first-party storage for your session, theme and onboarding state, and privacy-respecting analytics to count visits. No third-party advertising trackers are used to profile you.

7. Your rights

You can export or correct your profile from Settings, delete your own posts, tasks and notes at any time, and request full account deletion by emailing us. If you're under 18, please use ClassLab with a parent or guardian's knowledge.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and access to production systems is restricted. Row-level security rules ensure members can only read and write what their account is allowed to. No system is perfect — if you find a vulnerability, please report it responsibly to the address below.

9. Changes & contact

If this policy changes materially, we'll announce it in the app. Questions, requests or complaints: email us and a human will reply.

Privacy questions or requests

Data export, correction, or account deletion — email us and we'll take care of it.
